Over the past couple of weeks, a new event has caused roars over Tiktok involving a overzealous makeup artist at a client’s wedding.
The said makeup artist, under the account “The Key Look LLC” on Tiktok, posted a Tiktok of herself working a wedding and walking through the wedding morning. The artist then claimed that she decided to stay and make “social media content” for the wedding party even though she was not asked to do so.
After making the decision to stay, she began pushing her way into the wedding festivities causing her to be in practically all of the wedding pictures. She even went as far as to be standing in the aisle to get a video of the couple taking their vows. After a series of events during the rest of the wedding, she was ultimately asked to leave due to her overstaying her welcome.
She then went to the bride crying and finally left before returning again a couple hours later in order to “finish recording the social media content.” Obviously, the internet had something to say especially because she posted a 3 part series herself titled,
“Come with me to get kicked out of a wedding I was booked to do hair and makeup for”
People pointed out made it seem like she was playing the victim after essentially ruining this couple’s wedding.
The bridesmaids then came out stating that she made the entire wedding party more and more uncomfortable as the night went on and was asked to leave multiple times. This stirred up conversation about wedding vendors overstaying their welcome and how this particular creator had most likely and subsequently ruined this couple’s wedding.
One user on tiktok expressed,
“I’m so distraught watching this. Why is she still there filming these strangers? It feels like I was a part of this lady’s wedding.”
Many users found her behavior completely inappropriate, especially given the fact that she had begun posting the wedding for all of Tiktok and sharing extremely intimate details that not even the couple had shared on their own social media accounts yet. Although it’s not unusual for artists to stay after the makeup is done, it is however not usual for them to become so closely involved in the wedding without permission to do so. Many even questioned her motive for this behavior as an experienced makeup artist. With another user expressing,
“My makeup artist stayed for my whole wedding unseen and unheard unless I needed her for a touch up. She was young and just starting. As a seasoned wedding makeup artist she should have known better.”
The audience this situation garnered on Tiktok mostly completely dismissed the artists behavior and created videos explaining why she was at fault. After the accumulation of these videos the artist decided to make an apology video which was not taken well by the public with people claiming she was still making it seem like she was the victim.
Now I leave it to you, the readers, to decide; was the makeup artist who seemingly overstayed her welcome, a wedding crasher or simply a wedding vendor trying to do her job?
