The first assassination attempt against Donald Trump has become a major event in history. It will impact American History forever. Everyone was shocked when it happened and when they heard about it, they were even more shocked when it was repeated.
A surprising event happened on September 15, 2024, a second assassination attempt on Donald Trump occurred.
Donald Trump was playing golf on his golf course with some friends when the Secret Service found Ryan Wesley Routh hiding in the bushes with a rifle. The Secret Service has reported that the assassinator was waiting for twelve hours in the bushes. When the Secret Service spotted the assassinator they opened fire on the suspect. The suspect fired no shots at the president or at the officials. Donald Trump was never in Ryan Wesley’s sight line.
The suspect fled the scene but was eventually captured. Ryan was driving his daughter’s vehicle. Ryan was armed with an AK-47 Rifle and was approximately 300-500 yards away from Donald Trump. From this incident, Ryan Wesley is convicted of two felonies that include possession of a firearm as a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number. He could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
Ryan Wesley has a criminal history in North Carolina. He has attempted to recruit former Afghan commandos to help the Ukrainian Cause, charged with possession of weapons of mass destruction, a felony, and a hit and run offense. It is shown that Ryan Wesley is pro-Ukraine and wished to participate in Ukraines war against Russia. Ryan has been in multiple interviews urging people to take up arms for Ukraine. He has also posted statements on X that speak lowly of Donald Trump.
Trump has stated his own thoughts about the situation. He praises the secret service for doing a great job in finding the suspect and keeping everyone safe. Trump also expresses that he is convinced Ryan Wesley committed this act for the reason that he was influenced by Joe Biden’s and Kamala Harris’s rhetoric.
Danica Torres, who is a senior at Pitman High School was asked the question, “What is your first impression when you heard about Trump’s second assassination attempt?”
“I was shocked that I didn’t hear about it earlier. There wasn’t enough coverage of the first assassination attempt. Maybe Trump shouldn’t say so much if he is going to be shot at every corner.”
Chris Navarette, who is also a senior at Pitman High School was also asked the same question.
“I think it’s staged. I think Donald Trump is using assassination attempts to gain popularity with indecisive voters. I saw the success of it in the first assassination attempt.”
This event shows a use of political violence that must be stopped in order to maintain a safe, secure, and civil country. Such events show the horrible consequences of not having good leaders to take charge and maintain civility and respect throughout the country. This situation may have a possible effect on the upcoming presidential election.
