An event everyone loves, Pitman High School’s Pink Out Games. Nights to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer, all while allowing a fun, and enjoyable experience.
The flooding crowds of pink. The glittering stadium lights. The echoed cheering. Something everyone can include themselves in. All ages come together. Something all hearts can indulge in. All while being an event to bring souls together. To support a cause shared throughout many families and friends.
Pink Out games remain a yearly tradition at Pitman High. All throughout athletic competitions, soccer and volleyball, but most popular football. Pink Out is typically held throughout the month of October. Athletes dress in pink uniforms, and matching pink accessories. Staff, Parents, Students, and Supporters are all able to participate in such a positive and uplifting event.
With interviewing a student from Pitman High, Class of 2027, Jayden Araujo. He says,
“Pink Out games help spread awareness to all, including outside people. People enjoy attending Pitman High Football games even if they aren’t from Pitman. It helps everyone understand. The Pink Out games are a fun and interactive theme for everyone of every age. Though I do think we should have another month or two dedicated to raising awareness. There shouldn’t be any “rush” to something so important. One or two more months would be more sufficient. Though I do like the idea of using sports events to raise funds. They allow a fun experience while being put to good use. ”
In addition to the athletic events, there are various activities to help fundraise. These funds are spent towards local and national charities for Breast Cancer, organizations, related research, and patient care. Everyone can help make a difference.
People have spoken, saying that these football games are a great way to help people get a better understanding: a better understanding for the importance of breast cancer, and how we can bring it to light. To let others understand that this is a very important topic. Taking time to spend and fundraise money. To take time to set up these heartwarming events. It’s important to have everyone leave with a sense of purpose and unity. Leaving with a commitment, a feeling to make a change.
Pitman continues to have these Pink Out games, in hopes that it can remain as an event of hope, and a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we all come together. To let those suffering with breast cancer know that we’re all rooting for them. In hopes that it inspires others to join and help raise awareness.
