Movie actress Blake Lively has been under fire for being an alleged “Mean Girl” starting with an old interview resurfacing from 2016.
In the interview, Lively along with her then co-star Parker Posey sat down with interviewer Kjersti Faa to discuss their then new film Cafe Society. Lively, being heavily pregnant at the time, was congratulated on her pregnancy by the interviewer as she stated,
“Congratulations on your little bump!”
Lively then responded,
“Congratulations on your little bump!”
to an interviewer who was not visibly pregnant. Posey and Lively then continued to have an extremely awkward and hostile interview, at one point even completely ignoring the interviewer and veering off into their own conversation. The interviewer ultimately decided to not release the interview as it was an extremely uncomfortable watch.
After she released the interview, Faa then came out stating that she has fertility issues and is unable to get pregnant saying,
“Her words felt like a bullet.”
This caused fans to become even more outraged with her sharp statement.
These clips have sent the internet into hellfire with people calling her pampered, rude, and not being a “girls girl.” There has also been drama arising in the midst of her highly anticipated new movie It Ends With Us due to her behavior promoting the movie which contains themes of domestic violence being called “tone deaf.”
In an interview for the movie, Lively was asked how victims of domestic violence should approach her after the film’s release to which she responded,
“Like ask me for my address or my phone number or location share. I could just location share you!”
This sarcastic response led many viewers feeling extremely upset with her response as it seems she does not take the traumatic themes of the movie seriously.
In an interview with Pitman High School student, Cristina Arreguin, she exclaimed,
“I used to like Blake because she and Ryan Reynolds were a cute couple, but I saw her in an interview for her new movie and she was kinda mean to the interviewer and didn’t even let her speak! It made me kinda mad because it makes it look like she’s above everyone else.”
This was also the main consensus of the internet. People were quick to express how utterly nasty and rude these remarks were.
Similarly, another Pitman High School student, America Pena, had this to say,
“I think the Blake Lively situation is definitely interesting… I think it’s extremely insensitive of her to dismiss this movie as if it were any other fun, lighthearted movie. I also find some of her interviews kind of funny in a way because of the fact that she’s obviously not media trained.”
The hatred for Blake is still fairly rampant online, some hate her while others jump to her defense. Although we may never know what was truly going on in Blake’s head when she made all those remarks, the internet is still wondering; should we hate Blake Lively?
