It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Turlock Cities annual Christmas parade lands on Friday December 1st. This event hosted by Turlock will start at 6:30pm on Canal Drive. This is the 44th year this Parade is coming to life and being celebrated with a variety of lights, floats, and clubs choosing to support/represent Turlock.
Pitman High has their very own FFA club and Colorguard team participating in the parade. Downtown was filled with small business booths/stands, lights, food, decorations, and music. You could walk down the road to get hot cocoa or christmas snacks in a family friendly environment enjoyable for all. At 6:30pm the police sirens signaled the start of the parade and the crowds of people gathered outside homes and businesses. The theme for this year’s annual parade was Christmas Luau.
The great thing about the parade is the diversity of floats coming from different families, organizations, and groups. They show representation for their communities while in the Christmas spirit. For example Osborn elementary representing their two way immersion school by incorporating hispanic decoration into their float. We also had various Christian flolats telling stories with their decorations and showing their love for their religion. Both Turlock and Pitman High had their Color Guard, Cheerleaders, and Band walking around representing their school pride! Next lets hear what some of viewers thought of the parade.
I asked Evelyn Gutierrez a senior here at Pitman for her all around opinion on the parade and here were her thoughts, ¨Well I loved seeing all the floats and their decorations were really pretty. I didn’t know the theme was Laua so I was confused at first but I still thought it turned out nice.¨
Next I asked Nicolas Hensley a senior here at Pitman, ¨What was your favorite part about the parade?¨ His response was fairly short and simple. He said, ¨My favorite part was looking at all the fancy tractors.¨
In my opinion I think the parade was very well put together just like every year when December rolls around. I think Turlock does a great job at coming together every year with its community to put all their hard work together to create something very special. Watching all the people gather around and flood the streets is something I look forward to and makes for such a joyful environment. As well as a big congratulations to Pitmans Colorguard and Band for doing such an amazing job at representing our school!
