Toy Drives
December 13, 2017
Ah, the holidays; the most wonderful time of the year. A great time to be with family and friends. We all are lucky to be with our families, and be blessed and thankful for them, but there are some who are not lucky enough to have anything. That’s when the toy drives come in!
For years, toy drives have been providing toys and games for children who possess less than others. There are many great toy drives that people participate in. One of the most popular is Toys for Tots. Toys for Tots is a great toy drive that provides joy for children by giving nice wrapped up gifts. You can visit their websites and donate now at https://www.toysfortots.org.
But that’s not the only toy drive. Operation Christmas Child and Make- a -Wish Foundation are other two great toy drives. Operation Christmas Child provides gifts for kids internationally. Buy some fun toys or warm clothing, choose to either send it to a boy or girl, and give the box to your church, school, or whoever is collecting them, and they will be sent to a child in another country. For Make -a -Wish Foundation, you can donate a gift to people with life threatening conditions.
There are so many ways to brighten up a child’s spirit. Simply visiting them on Christmas in the hospital or helping out at the homeless shelter is enough to make their Christmas spectacular!!!
Anyone could organize a toy drive. Just get together with some friends and ask some people to join in and donate some toys to a charity or homeless shelter. Donate some to the kids in the hospital.
Just do anything that will bring joy to these young children. Besides toy drives, another way to help less fortunate children or people is donating cans to Turlock Together. In Doctor Staley’s classroom, she is currently is collecting cans for Turlock Together, and has one box already full. Everyday she is always inspiring kids to donate to the needy.
It is always great to be part of an organization or helping out in a toy drive. Trust me, it feels good when you give something to someone else. Notice those Santas around the markets and sidewalks? Donate some money in their buckets! Have so many toys and games you don’t play with anymore? Donate them to charity! Give away stuffed animals, some card games, or even something small, like a cute christmas bell. After all, it’s better to give than to receive, right?
Give those kids something to be thankful for!
