Colin Kaepernick, former student at Pitman High School is one of the most talked about players in the NFL at the moment.

In high school, Colin Kaepernick was a student athlete that played football, baseball, and basketball. He is most well known for football. At Pitman High, he was known by #4 (which is the number he wore on his football jersey). Kaepernick nation rank was 1,686 and his california rank was 140. He continued with his football career and attended the University of Nevada Reno. And later on was drafted to the NFL by the 49ers and was number 7.

He started his career as a backup quarterback playing along side with Alex Smith but then Alex Smith was injured and kaepernick stepped up to the plate and put on a show. He lead the team to the super bowl but came up short towards the end. 49ers ended up getting rid of Alex Smith and started to pick off players here and there. Alongside Alex Smith leaving, Frank Gore, Michael Crabtree, and Vernon Davis also left or were released. Kaepernick stuck with the 49ers continuing to be there quarter back but things didn’t go as planned.

Later on, Blaine Gabbert came along and this resulted in a lot of hard and determined fighting for the starting position.

One thing that Colin Kaepernick decided to do the caught everyone’s eye was before every game when the national anthem was sung,  he started to take a knee during the performance. This resulted in a lot of hate and attention towards Kaepernick which as of right now, is the thing he is known for.

Kaepernick states “ I am not going to stand up and show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color”.

Kaepernick  is now in a situation where no one has drafted him to their team. kaepernick is struggling but it seems that he will take any offer he can get at this point. The Baltimore Ravens had considered picking him up but their reasoning behind not signing him was that he wanted too much money and he is involved in too many social injustice activities.

After his kneeling act, no one’s quite sure what his career will look like in the long run.
