Look Who’s Getting Beefed Up

America’s most well known restaurant has upgraded their menu. The long time “Big Mac” or otherwise known as the Number 1 on the menu, got bigger and smaller friends added to the menu. As of January 2017, McDonald’s has added the Grand Mac and the Mac Jr to the menu.

To learn about this new lunch option, a couple of friends and myself went to go try it last Friday afternoon. We were not disappointed by what we received. As they I received my order first, my fellow mates told me to open it slowly and to cherish the moment.

The glory of seeing a wider, and thicker burger with paper wrapped around it made my tastebuds extremely crave it (even though we had eaten Taco Bell’s new Chicken Shell Taco Big Box an hour earlier). With it’s double serving of it’s special sauce, the burger was demolished within 15 minutes. It was then we made the decision that we would come back for more.

To learn about the beginning, it goes back to 1967, when Jim Delligatti (Mcdonald’s employee in Pennsylvania) first introduced the Big Mac to the franchise. The year right after the introduction, the Big Mac was available nationwide.

What distinguishes the one of a kind burger from the rest of the competition is what’s inside of it. Pickles, mustard, onions, and especially the secret sauce are the special features it contains and has its customers coming back and ordering more. Of course, one can not forget the iconic third bun snuggled between the two beef patties.

The new burger, known as the Grand Mac, comes with  bigger numbers (we are not only talking about prices). The ⅓ of a pound 100% all beef  double patty monster comes with 52 grams of fat, and 860 calories, making it a nightmare for healthy eaters.
