Beyoncé’s Influence on Her Fans… Good or Bad?
October 27, 2016
There’s no question Beyonce has played a huge role in music’s history. She first received attention when she was a part of a group called Destiny’s Child by selling sixty million records. She later went her separate way and became even more successful by selling over a hundred million records and becoming the most nominated woman for music awards in music history.
TIME magazine even considered Beyonce to be one of the most influential people in the world in 2013. With fame comes responsibility, since so many people are watching your every move. She exceeds this character trait and has become someone who many people look up to.
She has included themes of feminism and equality in her songs that make her listeners feel self worth and feel strong.
When Hannah Reza, a Pitman High student, was asked if Beyoncé was a positive influence on millennials she replied, “Yes because there is a lot of controversy on feminism and women in this generation and Beyonce teaches us that you can be independent and don’t need to rely on anyone and also to express yourself.”
Although she has brought positive influence, she has also created crazed fans who sometimes take it too far.
In one of her recent shows, her braid got caught on one of her earrings and was ripped out. Her bleeding ear was shown on the big screen in front of thousands of people and caused many fans to worry.
Beyoncé was admired and applauded for carrying on her show and finishing without missing a beat. Other fans took it to a whole new level and started the trend on Twitter, “#bleedforBeyoncé” “If Queen B had to endure pain, so do I. Tonight we #CutforBeyoncé” – a fan tweeted.
After the show Beyoncé had not been active on any of her accounts so fans assumed she had died causing chaos over social media. These fans do have their crazy moments but they are often the most caring and supportive.
With this much fame, it is obvious a celebrity like Beyoncé could really make a difference since she has so many supporters. While she can help make a change for good causes, we also see how her fame can backfire leading to danger and negative news
