Super Bowl 50 was hosted by the San Francisco 49rs this year in Santa Clara, CA. In what could be Peyton Manning’s last NFL game. Manning was lucky to have the best NFL defense in the game to have his back throughout the game.

Just as they have all season long, the NFL’s Number one defense carried the Denver Broncos and Peyton Manning himself in what might be the last game of his career. They delivered a great performance, and created a lot frustration for Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton and they beat the Panthers, 24-10, in Super Bowl 50 at Levi’s Stadium on Sunday night.

It was the third Super Bowl victory for the Broncos and the second for Manning, tying him with his younger brother Eli who had the family lead. Although, it could have been his career finale too, after the game he had other things on his mind than to announce the retirement of his football career.

“This has been an emotional week, an emotional night, and I’ve got a couple of priorities,” Manning said. “I want to go kiss my wife, kiss my kids, and I want to go drink a lot of beer. Von Miller’s buying.”

Miller receiving MVP with an outstanding performance with 2 and a half sacks, two forced fumbles’ that sparked Denver’s defense. They had a Super Bowl record-tying seven sacks and forced four Panthers turnovers, and it was Miller who made the two biggest plays of the game that helped the Broncos’ victory.

Miller came out with a boom during the first quarter when the Panthers were backed up on their own 15 yard line, when he flew in on Newton and ripped the ball from his hands as they fell to the ground broncos defensive end Malik Jackson jumped on the loose ball in the end zone to help give the Broncos an early 10 point lead.

Then in the fourth quarter with four minutes left on the clock and the Broncos holding on to a six-point lead, Miller was back at it once again. He sacked and stripped the ball from Newton, and recovered at the Carolina 4 yard line, and helped to complete a Broncos’ offensive touchdown.

That’s why the Broncos were able to win on a night when Manning completed just 13 of 23 passes for 141 yards and an interception, and they had just 194 offensive yards overall.

“That’s the kind of games we’ve been winning all year,” said Broncos coach Gary Kubiak. “It was tough offensively but defensively we were tremendous.”

“I sort of knew with this defense this team would have a chance,” Manning said. “From the get-go they’ve been nothing but awesome. I’m just glad I was on the same team as our defense and I didn’t have to play against them. There’s no question our defense led the way.”

If this does turn out to be the final game of Mannings 18-year career, history will remember he became the 12th quarterback in NFL history to win two Super Bowls, adding this one to the Lombardi Trophy he picked up in Super Bowl XLI(41).

“We’ve been through a lot this year,” Manning added. “This team has been tough, resilient, unselfish, and all that was on display.

“I do not take this for granted,” he added. “I know how difficult it is. I’m very grateful and I’m very appreciative.”
