Fun DIY Christmas Gifts
December 8, 2015
‘Tis the season of cold winter days, fun-loving holidays, and gift giving. But throughout the years, gifts have become less personal and store bought. Most people settle with handing out gift cards or cash. Even though gift cards are great, personally handmade gifts show your loved ones that you took the time to create a personalized gift. Here are some fun,do-it-yourself, gifts that you can give to almost anyone!
1)Personalized Mug
All you need is a plain ceramic mug and some colorful sharpie markers.Design whatever you want on the mug and then bake in the oven for thirty minutes at 350 degrees. The sharpie design will then permanently stay on the mug.
2) Homemade chocolate-covered pretzels
Most people, especially during the holidays, love candies, treats, and anything that’s covered in chocolate. All you need to create this yummy holiday gift is pretzels (log pretzels work best), chocolate chips, and sprinkles.Simply heat up your chocolate in the microwave until it’s smooth, dip the pretzels half way into the chocolate, then place them on a sheet of wax paper. Sprinkle chopped nuts, M&M’s, or sprinkles for decoration then refrigerate them to allow the chocolate to harden.
3) Embellished Picture Frame
Have any old and unused picture frames? Take your old unused frame and decorate it! If you don’t already have one that’s perfectly fine, just buy a lightly used frame at a thrift store. Once you have found a frame, decorate it with whatever you want: glitter, ribbon, buttons, etc. Once you have embellished your frame, place a picture of you and the person you’re giving the gift to.
4) Hot Chocolate Kit
Mason jars have been trending for some time now because of their cute and vintage look. A fun and easy Christmas gift is a Hot Chocolate Kit. All you need is hot chocolate powder, mini marshmallows, and a mason jar. Add the hot chocolate mix a little over halfway into the Mason Jar, then add in the mini marshmallows.
5) Candy in a Jar
Have a friend with a sweet tooth? Figure out what their favorite candy is but make sure it’s small enough to fit in a Mason Jar. Fill the candy, whatever it may be,(M&M’s, Sourpatch Kids, Twix, Skittles, Starburst, Mini Reese’s ,ext.) into the Mason Jar.Tie the lid with a cute bow and add a label that says ‘Thankful for SWEET friends like you!’
DIY gifts can be fun and easy to put together and are sure to put a smile on your loved one’s face. So don’t settle with buying a gift card or handing out cash, spice it up this year with a personally made gift!
