Elf the Musical Jr.

Pitman Drama’s Elf the Musical is the hit of the holidays! The drama department has yet again outdone themselves with this year’s winter performance.

Pitman’s drama teacher, Julie Mcbay, and the Pitman drama club officers, Alex Williams, Andrew Cheeseman, and Forest Sprague, thought it would be fun to do a light-hearted Christmas themed play this year. Elf the Musical was the perfect fit.

Weston Tibly’s performance as Buddy the elf is completely hilarious and jolly. He portrays a man who was raised by Santa Claus and his elves in the North Pole. After finding out that he is in fact not an elf, he goes to New York City in hopes of finding his biological father, Walter Hobbs.

Along the way Buddy falls in love with Jovie, a grumpy Macy’s elf employee, played by Julia Marson (12th). Julia’s performance as Jovie, the cranky employee who doesn’t enjoy Christmas, is spot on. Her vocal performance is definitely one to remember as well.

Believe it or not, this miraculous play was put together in only four weeks. Drama teacher Julie Mcbay, student director Leah Siegel (12th) and stage manager Andrew Cheeseman  (12th) truly performed a miracle. From the festive set, to the choreography and vocals, to putting it all together, somehow the drama department managed to put on a show in a very short amount of time.

Pitman drama officer Alex Williams (12th) stated, “It’s truly remarkable to see a production of this intensity come together in just four short weeks. The dedicated students and amazing directors are what make the show possible and I would not want to do this with anyone else! Pitman Drama is the only place where you can be an elf, Macy’s employee, and New Yorker all in one night. Enjoy the Show!”

Elf the musical is perfect show for all ages. The show is kid friendly so feel free to bring your little sister or brother. It’s also perfect for bringing a parent or a friend. Pitman drama has worked hard to put this production together and their long hours of dress rehearsal have paid off. Elf the musical is a great, comical, and fun show that is definitely worth seeing.
