On October 18th all CSUs opened their campus to welcome prospective students to their school. They all do it on the same day and can answer questions about their specific school or any other CSU. They provided tours, information about the campus, and some time to get to know some of the different majors offered at that campus. I had the pleasure of attending this wonderful experience at Stanislaus State.
California State University Stanislaus, or Stan State to many of us, welcomed anyone who wanted to see their campus promptly at 9:30 in the morning. With things constantly going it was pretty hard to get bored. They began with a welcome that introduced all the different branches of study by the heads of those departments.
Then they had three different tours running at different times. These tours showed you the main points of the campus and the guide was very helpful and gave an insight into things from a student’s perspective. When you got back from the tour all the professors were there supporting their majors and answering any possible questions you could have. This portion was very informative and I got some advice on what to do to go into your major and what would be the best route for you to take to get out the quickest and easiest.
After this there was an informational meeting with a few requirements on entering an application and average GPA as well as SAT scores. They also talked about room and board and honors programs offered by the school. Then you go to do whatever you wanted and your day was over.
This was a very useful experience that helped alleviate some stress and calm me down about the whole process of applying to college. With all the information I gained I feel almost like an expert. Every single person there was extremely nice and their whole goal was to make me feel more comfortable on their campus. It was a perfect experience to help deal with the stress of applying to college.
