As domestic violence seems to be invading every aspect of social media, it seems to have marched its way into the National Football League. With football allstars such as Johnathan Dwyer and Adrian Peterson head butting their wives and beating their children, it has not been a pretty sight for viewers to behold. Imagine the humility an NFL player will feel after doing such an atrocious act to a much weaker and often helpless individual.
Domestic Violence in the NFL all started in June of 2013 in which former Patriots all-star tight end Aaron Hernandez went under investigation for murder of former college football player, Odin Lloyd. He was arrested and sent to prison, and is currently awaiting another trial to help plead his case. Then, Ray Rice decided to punch his wife in the face in an Atlantic City elevator on March 13 through the halls. Most recently, Arizona Cardinals Outside Linebacker John Dwyer was arrested for allegedly head butting his wife on September 20th, 2014. The Commissioner has made no comments as of right now, but that will change once NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell gets to the stage, that is if he does.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has had a very bad record in his six years as NFL
Commissioner; he did not handle the New England Patriots Spygate scandal effectively, he ruined the New Orleans Saints season after suspending their coach for Bountygate, and he is not handling domestic violence cases like a commissioner should, but everything could change very soon.
Roger Goodell held a press conference after so many fans and players requested him to do so. He rarely spoke about domestic violence, and how the NFL will be fining and/or suspending players that get in trouble with the law. Fans showed their outrage by spamming the NFL forums, and crashing their Twitter page. This in turn sparked outrage from NFL players that were not pleased by Roger Goodell’s work so far. Baltimore Ravens Wide Receiver Torrey Smith showed his displeasure with the commissioner on Twitter by saying how he should not be allowed to keep his job anymore, and that he should also be fined.
After the full Ray Rice video of him punching his wife was released, jersey burning, hate mailing, and FBI investigations began. The FBI claims that the full video was sent to Roger Goodell in July, and he hasn’t responded until it got leaked to the public. NFL players claim he responded when it got leaked was an intent of secrecy from fans and the NFL Players Union, as well as him trying to protect his public image and in turn keep his job. The fans and players considered this a foul act, and wish for Roger Goodell to resign his position as NFL commissioner. If Roger Goodell had seen the Ray Rice video back in July, he should have acted sooner, rather than keep Ray Rice in the league for monetary benefit. In fact, Ray Rice has been taking out of the new Madden game for his actions of the field. He was seen as an embarrassment by the Baltimore Ravens, and they cut him immediately after the full video got leaked. What was only a measly twogame suspension at first, turned into an NFL ban for Ray Rice. One can only hope that Roger Goodell receives whatever the NFL Union votes for, but even that still wouldn’t please most fans. As Torrey Smith said, “The man should just resign; he hasn’t been doing the right things for a while now.”
