Graduation is soon approaching and most people are looking forward to the plans that lie ahead. Summer is finally here and students have, once again, finished 180 days of school. However, not many students can say that they’ve maintained perfect attendance throughout the school year. Samantha Scott, on the other hand, has attended everyday of school throughout not only her senior year, but everyday since kindergarten.
Perfect attendance from k-12 is a tradition Samantha’s family has kept and followed through with since her older sisters, Stephanie and Sabrina, have been in school. All 3 siblings had made it their goal to attend every day of school and never gave up on the plan they made. Samantha expresses her joy by stating, “Obtaining perfect attendance means that I have finally accomplished my goal. I have kept our family tradition going and I have made my family proud.”
By taking school attendance importantly, Samantha has maintained a 4.0 GPA, another goal set at the beginning of high school. “I knew if I missed school I would get behind and with the classes I was taking, I didn’t want to take that chance.” Not only has Samantha been at school everyday, but she has put in all of her effort to achieve the goals she had set for herself.
According to Samantha, education is the key to success. She believes that maintaining perfect attendance will benefit her education as well as her character. “It not only shows that you’ve gone to school every day but that you’re reliable and you take things seriously.” Obtaining perfect attendance for Samantha doesn’t just mean receiving a special certificate, it means building her character and showing people she is a hard working, dedicated student.
