On April 1st, there was disturbance in a Turlock residence between an out of control sixteen- year- old boy and his family members. A call was sent in to the Turlock Police Station around 5:13 to report the riot; the officers were on the scene shortly after. They arrived just in time as the boy was in a heated fight with another family member.
Mayra Lewis, Turlock Police Department spokesperson reported, “A 16-year-old male was threatening to assault a relative”
Lewis, reported, “When police arrived, the juvenile locked himself in a room repeatedly stabbing the door with a screw driver from the other side.”
Fearing the boy might harm himself, the officers broke down the door forcing themselves inside.
As they proceeded into the room, the enraged teenager made one last effort to avoid the cops. He pulled out a pepper spray bottle and sprayed one officer in the face shortly blinding him.
Because the officer was in very close contact with the teenager, he received a full dose of the pepper spray and felt all the side affects in full force. Some of these side effects would have been swelling of mucous membranes of eyes, nose, throat, nasal, and sinus discharge, coughing, and shortness of breath, along with many mores painful side effects.
Mayra Lewis, reported, “The juvenile was arrested without further incident.”
The Turlock Police Department released this statement shortly after the incident, “…the boy is now being held in juvenile hall on a charge of battery on a police officer.”
