FFA is a National Organization that makes a positive difference in the lives of young students. It helps fellow students to develop their leadership skills and grow as individuals. Some students even find future successes in jobs because of their agricultural education that they gain through their FFA experience.
Some of the courses that are offered are Ag Mechanics, Ag Communications and Welding. There is a science section as well which includes Ag. Biology, Ag. Geosciences, and Animal Science. This year there is a new class that is added, Viticulture, which is the process of cultivation of grapevines.
Nathan Gianesin, senior, stated, “Some objects that I build are push sticks, stubbles, and many more objects. Being in Ag. Mechanics is lots off fun, and after I finish my projects I sell them at auctions for about $500 each. I make most of my income from being in Future Farmers of America.”
The Future Farmers of America also go to city to city and compete in competitions that test their skills that they develop throughout their high school experience. The FFA has a motto that they live by and follow through their everyday life, “learning to do, doing to learn, earning to live, and living to serve.” They develop agricultural leadership; they promote a healthy life style; volunteering so help the community.
Tim Truax, senior, explained how FFA impacted his life. “I found most of my friends through FFA. When ever I feel like I’m tired of school and don’t feel like coming I quickly remember why I ago and it’s all about FFA. I highly recommend that more people get involved, there are always more positions to fill and more leaders to be born.”
The FFA allows students to develop leadership skills through courses in high school. Students who are involved in the FFA have the tools to succeed in life. This National Organization helps students achieve success throughout life.
