Samsung’s line of Galaxy phones has proven to be rather popular and innovative. They are major competitors of Apple’s iPhones and HTC’s own Android devices.
Despite this popularity, both the iPhone 5S and the HTC One have been more successful than Samsung’s most recent Galaxy S4. With that in mind, Samsung has begun working on the production of the Galaxy S5 and have been closed-lipped throughout the entire process, prompting the spreading of countless rumors.
The most probable of these rumors regard a more modern design for the Galaxy S5. Apparently, Samsung may be passing on its cheap-looking plastic design and opting for something like Apple’s more pleasing metallic look. This rumor was also going around when Samsung announced the Galaxy S4.
More rumors are based on the success of the iPhone 5S. For example, a 64-bit A7 processor (which is basically what holds all of the cellphone’s data) was planted in the iPhone 5S and it’s being said that Samsung might want to join in on that prosperity.
Also pertaining to Apple is the potentiality that the Galaxy S5 will have a fingerprint scanning system to unlock the phone instead of a pass code. More far-fetched and unlikely is the idea that the phone might have a retinal scanning instead of fingerprint scanning. That means that a person would have to hold the phone up to their eye just to unlock it, which wouldn’t be the most comfortable thing to do.
Another rumor is the possibility of the S5 having a 2K QHD screen display, which would lead to sharper images, more vivid colors, and slicker videos and animations. On the note of images, the camera to be embedded within the new Galaxy many or may not be an impressive 16 MP as opposed to the previous 13 MP, meaning much higher quality photos.
Since Samsung is trying to compete with every other manufacturer out there, it is not unbelievable that the company might want to extend their phone’s battery life. To do this, the Galaxy S5 would have a 2900 mAh battery, a battery that can go from 0% battery to 100% in about 2 hours.
Also to compete with other companies, it is possible that the S5 might borrow a popular feature from the HTC One. The HTC One has 2 long speaker bars that make audio sound amazing and could be something to boost Galaxy S5 sales.
Out of all the rumors that surround the sequel to Samsung’s Galaxy S4, very few have been confirmed. We only know that the newest addition to the Galaxy family will likely be released sometime in late February or early March and it will cost anywhere between $650 – $888. Either way, anybody awaiting the Galaxy S5 should start saving up the money and counting down the days.
