Will you go to prom with me- seven simple words a boyfriend asks his girlfriend, but is it really simple?
A simple note asking her to prom is excessively outdated. Come-on guys! Be a little more creative. Escorting your girlfriend to prom is a special high school memory that will always be in the back of her mind; however, what is more special is the unique “promposal.”
PitmanHigh School prom will be held on March 21, which puts pressure on the gentlemen to compete, in the most unique way, to ask their girlfriend to prom. So far, a couple of “promposals” that have been introduced were breathtaking, not only for the girlfriend, but also for every student who witnessed it.
Scarlett Sandoval, a sophomore at PitmanHigh School, started Wednesday, February 12, 2014, with her Honors English class. Ms. Perino, her English teacher, announced that there would be a PowerPoint.
Scarlett thought nothing big of it, “I thought it was cute in the beginning, I actually thought it was for another student.”
The more Scarlett watched the 29 slides, the more she realized these details were about her relationship with her boyfriend, Lorenzo Saldivar.
“Lorenzo had everything planned; He came in the day before and knew exactly how he wanted things to play out.” Ms. Perino exclaimed.
After twenty-eight slides, the last one stated, “I’m dying to ask you a Question…” and Lorenzo walked in the classroom with a rose and asked Scarlett to prom.
Even though Lorenzo had a unique and jaw-dropping “promposal”, Grant Talent, a senior at PitmanHigh School, was all in running for the best “promposal”.
Grant thought outside the box; he wanted to create something that was special to both him and, senior Moriah Halteman. He went to “How I met your Mother,” a show that the couple both watch, and stole Barney’s play book idea.
Through out the ‘playbook’, Grant talks about their past experiences together, and then ends the ‘playbook’ with “How to ask a girl to prom…”
“She was embarrassed, but it was cute; I knew she liked the whole idea, which makes me happy.” Talent stated with a smile building on his face.
So whether you are asking a friend or a girlfriend to prom make sure the “promposal” is not an ordinary thing; it is almost a competition to who can have the cutest “promposal” or who can get the most awes or who can get their girlfriend to cry.
Whether it is having a teacher have a “lesson” that day and “promposing” in front of your girlfriend’s peers or whether it is creating a story book of a timeline of your relationship, having a unique way to ask your girlfriend to prom will not only get you a lot of respect, but you will give your girlfriend a high school memory she will never forget.
