Turlock, CA has always been portrayed to be a city with lacking opportunities for fun. However, many changed their view on Turlock, when the ice rink was built for the city. Turlock finally got hope that this little town was beginning to grow, inch by inch.
What is more perfect than coming home from Black Friday and being able to go ice skating a mile away from home?
The fun began on November 29th 2013, and will unfortunately come to an end on January 12th 2013. The rink is an 80-by-60-foot rink located at 716 N. Daubenberger Road, near TurlockHigh School.
Anyone above the age of three is more than welcome to go and enjoy life in Turlock at the ice rink, which is perfect for families to be able to spend a Saturday evening together.
Ramona Saurez, a mother of two, states with a grin from ear to ear, “I can finally have a place to take the kids that isn’t a four hour drive from my house. However it is unfortunate it will not be a yearlong activity, but I will make sure I make every weekend count!”
A simple $12 to $14 for adults and $10 to $12 for children(including ice skate rentals) is good for two hours of ice skating. Hot chocolate and snacks are sold off to the side. The combination of hot chocolate and cold weather makes for the perfect holiday atmosphere.
Isabel Sarhad, a junior at Pitman high School, announced, with her eyes glowing from joy, “I’m tired of doing the same old things with friends in Turlock: Movies, Starbucks, In-N-out, and Movies again. We can finally do something that is close enough to where my parents can take me and my friends and we can enjoy our weekend, away from homework and into nature!”
It might not be the biggest ice rink ever built, but it sure is a start for Turlock. It is also perfect for beginners to be able to practice and then soon be able to go to a bigger ice rink, outside of town and be able to skate as if they actually know what they are doing.
“Turlock is slowly upgrading. This year, we were shocked by the Ice rink, and I honestly cannot wait until what next year has in store!” exclaims Mirna Shino, A junior at PitmanHigh School.
So, come on Turlock peeps, grab a pair of gloves and a beanie, head out to the rink, rent a pair of skates, buy a hot chocolate and a bag of M&Ms and enjoy the night with family and friends.
