Turlock residents were left in shock after hearing about the horrific shooting that took place on November 6, 2013 at 1:20 a.m. on the highway near 99 Turlock that exceeded into Pioneer Ave. and East Main Street.
Mr. Jigour, a teacher at Pitman stated, “It is pretty shocking to hear that someone got hunted down in that way.”
It was said that Amritpal Sandhu had called and informed the California Highway Patrol dispatcher that he was being chased down on the freeway. By the time police department reached it was too late, Sandhu was found dead at sight in his white Infiniti Sedan, and the shooters had escaped.
Soon after the police department arrived the streets were closed down and further investigation was put into progress. They were not aware of who had done this, but with the help of some detectives and nearby families and friends they came down to two suspects from Turlock.
These two men were arrested and taken down to the Turlock Police Department. As stated in one of our ten amendments, “Innocent until proven guilty.” As usual, everyone has a different story to what happened that night and no one is to point fingers until the case has come to close and it is announced publically to who took away this young man’s life.
The two suspects pleaded not guilty in the trial that was held recently on November 21, 2013.
A local Stanislaus lawyer stated, “These cases can take anywhere from months to years before a consensus is reached.”
The question to whether or not the death penalty should be placed for the two suspects is still under discussion.
The following trial will be held on January 10, 2014 and the two suspects will not be allowed bail.
