Pitman High school has ninety-five teachers on campus. The Roaring Times has selected history teacher, Mrs. Megan Ludwig as its teacher of the week. Ludwig has demonstrated all of the qualities and characteristics that make a great educator.
Many teachers teach for years, but several quit their job because they feel as though teaching is not right for them. Ludwig has been teaching ever since Pitman High opened in 2002.
When asked why she became a teacher Ludwig’s reply was, “I decided to become a teacher because I love interacting with others and working with them.” Fifty percent of the time teachers say they became a teacher because they love to help students succeed in life. Out of all groups of students, high schoolers are notorious for getting off track and being difficult to handle.
Mrs. Ludwig felt that her world history teacher Mr. Gissler was one of her favorite teachers because he helped her when she was struggling and made a difference in her life that pushed her to be a better person and have things accomplished in life. He is a contributing factor to her success and determination in being a benefit to students’ lives.
Some students in their senior year choose to apply to a college, and some don’t. Mrs. Ludwig’s advice to students who want to apply to college is “Take advantage of the opportunity because not everyone gets to go to college.” She also added, “Work hard as much as you can because once you’re finished with college you’re finished.”
Other than teaching, Ludwig enjoys reading because it takes her outside of somewhere besides school and she was raised with a book reading family. In addition, she also likes to hike due to the peace it brings. Hiking also lets her enjoy nature’s beauty.
