Most people work hard all their lives but never receive the attention they deserve, but now on the Roaring Times, we are featuring a series of students and teachers per week to show off their success. Sydney Hubbel, a Senior at Pitman, is one of those people.
She started drawing in an elect art school when she was younger because she was always discouraged about it.
Hubbel explained, “I honestly just wanted to prove my classmates wrong, so I practiced and developed my skill.”
Although she really enjoys drawing a variety of subjects, Hubbel is most comfortable drawing trees and painting mushrooms. Hubbel stated that she has also been experimenting with a more psychedelic form of watercolor art.
Her favorite artist, the person who inspires her is Tim Burton; Hubbel believes that his art extends to more than just a screen. “He presents a more comical side to morbid in his tangible artwork,” she said.
Even though Hubbel enjoys art, she does not see this as anything more than a hobby in her future. Her dream is to attend Humboldt State University where she will be applying this month with high hopes of acceptance. After achieving this, Hubbel would like to become a History Teacher.
“Sydney Hubbel exemplifies Thomas Edison’s quote, ‘Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration.’ She works incredibly hard and it shows in her work,” said Ms. Gianotti.
