Books are a very fascinating thing but when it comes to dystopian franchise it becomes in a way an obsession. Why are so many people into reading these books? War. Death. Oppression. Environmental ruin. Dystopian novels are made of this and it is why we love them so much. We read these books feelings as the things that occur in the story could actually be occurring now or near the future rather than actually living it. For example, as the Hunger Games is about a girl who gets put in a arena with others; we are just experiencing that through her but we are not actually there.
Well the characters in these books are always so catchy; the girls are always portrayed as innocent and weak but at the end they can actually kick butt. People seem to be more into these types of books even though they are depressing but they are more of the type of book that is believable, that actually could occur in the future. People can be very cruel and we know we are capable of doing bad things and this just makes it seem more realistic.
Why teens love these books is another question. Teenagers have many problems such as being controlled by their parents, teachers, or society expectations. They can relate to the protagonist in these aspects and as well that they have no privacy and have no freedom. These books also link to their lives as teenagers are going through a phrase at this point and the books open their eyes to new things such as class difference, pollution, privacy issues in their lives and so on. Finally these books have so much action and teens love that, they are unpredictable, and a happy ending is never guarantee.
There are so many great books out there for example, there is Divergent. This book has the maincharacter being a girl Beatrice Prior’s who is portrayed as a young and innocent, though we get really shock when she goes against what her parents expected of her. As the society is divided up and her parents are the Abnegation (the selfless), but she chooses the Dauntless (the brave). It turns the whole story around making it even more exciting and making us want more as there is a sequel.
Dystopian literature just keeps growing and growing becoming more richer to people. It simply leaves you wanting more. These books just have something about them, it is as if the authors think alike in a way. Dystopian literature will continue to grow more and more as it gets better keeping the readers wanting more each time.
