Thor, the god of thunder is returning to the big screen this fall. We’ve seen Chris Hemsworth in action as the brawny and brave blonde twice already. Both times he had a good performance, but the trailer for the second installment in the Thor films seems to imply an even better performance.
It takes place not too long after the events of Avengers and we see that Thor has managed to find a way back to earth, meeting once more with his star-crossed lover, Jane Foster. It does seem a bit comical and confusing to the attentive movie fan though that Thor never paid a visit to his beloved during the time he was on earth in The Avengers.
Regardless, he whisks Jane away to Asgard where she sees that they truly are from different worlds. He’s considered a god among gods and she’s the tacky scientist tagging along for the epic ride. In the trailer, it features some sort of massive space ship that manages to decimate a good portion of estate somewhere in Europe.
In addition, we see some Odin action and we realize that the Asgardians are once again at war, or at least a battle of some sort. Of course we see Thor swing his hammer Mjolnir and totally kick some evil butt, but the main kicker of the trailer is definitely Tom Hiddleston.
He returns as Loki and he is now imprisoned in Asgard, but a new foe arriving threatening the survival of all sentient life in the universe, prompts Thor to release him and ask for help, albeit not without warning Loki that any mischief is prohibited. This probably won’t end well as we all know Loki is the god of mischief.
All in all the new Thor film, The Dark World, looks exciting and action-packed, but the question is, will it be able to live up to its predecessor or will it just be another superhero movie? We’ll have to wait until the mighty god shows up on the big screen during Fall.
