Game of Thrones started back up again kicking off with the premiere of season three just a few weeks ago and giving fans relief after a what seemed like a long break do to the cliff hangers the show left off with in season two. Of course that is not to say that viewers will not suffer through a large amount of cliff hanging moments at the end of every episode as it seems the show has found a talent for building up suspense.
Season 3 picks up immediately after Season 2 with maybe only a couple of hours passed at most. All the characters are still in there same positions and everyone still wants to kill each other. Rob Stark or the “King of the North” as many refer to him as is still fighting in a war against King Joffrey’s forces that viewers never really get to see fully save a few after battle scenes and the occasional scene where Rob is strategizing with his advisors only to be upset by their actions. Rob Starks standing in Season 3 so far is about the same as it had been in Season 2. Bran Stark, the younger brother of Rob, is on the road with the youngest of his siblings a wild women from the far North and a large simpleton who acts as Bran’s legs as he cannot walk and has not been able to since Season 1. Bran and his companions have no apparent objective right now but they will surely find one soon.
To the far North beyond the massive wall simply referred as the “Wall” Jon Snow is still hanging around with the Northern barbarians that he fell in with at the end of Season 2 and really has no apparent goal other than hanging out with the barbarians until they attack the wall. Jon’s friend Sam has seemed to be becoming a larger character in the show as he is really the only character left that viewers can follow as the Night’s Watch combats the undead hordes of White Walkers which made a brief appearance right at the end of Season 2.
Daenerys Targaryen is seen again with her dragons at a island of Atsapor, known for its high quality slave warriors known as the Unsullied. Its is obvious right from the get go that she has her eyes set on obtaining the army of slave warriors in the city and has a plan as to how to do so. Aria Stark has yet again fallen in with another bad crowd in Season 3 and seems to keep escaping only to fall into another group every time. Theon Greyjoy is seen again in captivity being brutally tortured by his captors, his hopes of escape seem very slim as the person that tried to save him only brought him back after he was away for only a few hours.
Tyrion Lanister is seen again as he gains the position of Master of Coin on the Kings small council. Tyrion is now in charge of solving his country’s economic problems and figuring out how to pay off the debt that Kingdom owes to multiple organizations.
Finally we find Jaime Lanister being transported to the capital city of King’s Landing by Brienne of Tarth, that huge female knight that is larger than everyone on the show. Jaime is going to learn soon that his captivity may be the end of him as his situation keeps getting worse every day.
That is pretty much a summary of what is going on in Season 3, Game of Thrones shows on HBO at 9 o’clock pm on Sundays for a one hour each episode.
