On April 16, 2013 around 3 in the afternoon, a devastating event occurred when two explosions went off in Copley Square, injuring many. The Boston Marathon’s audience was hit blind as they cheered on many runners as they crossed the finish line. This “act of terror” killed three, and injured more than one hundred bystanders.
This has been officially stated to be the worst bombing on U.S. soil since the September 11, 2001 attack. There is one suspect named John Miller as of now. Someone saw him running suspiciously from the scene and tackled him, he was then turned over to the FBI and is being questioned; however, he is denying any involvement.
As soon as the explosions occurred, chaos erupted. Ambulances and fire trucks raced to the scene as many were unaware of what was happening. They walked frazzled toward the incident and some instantly remembered 9/11. All subways and ways of transportation were stopped while people started to walk away with horrid pictures in their minds. Their otherwise fun and exciting day had been ruined and replaced with fear.
Police found another bomb that had thankfully not been detonated. Meanwhile medical tents were set up and many were rushed in with missing limbs and blood covering their bodies. Police are searching the entire span of the marathon looking for additional devices or evidence that will help pinpoint the person or people behind this gruesome event. As for now, we can all expect even tighter security.
