Apparently not since movies these days are mainly books put into action. Either filmmakers have nothing else to work on or they believe the younger generation to watch these developing films. It is quite obvious to most people, the book is always better than the movie, yet only when people see the movie will they be interested in the book that came way before. Of course who would want to read a one hundred page book to about a thousand pages about one plot that they can watch in about two hours.
Many of the books have become quite famous to certain age groups and with the ongoing trend, it is inevitable that filmmakers would proceed to create the reality put into the brains of many when reading one of these books. One main question the crowds wonder is, why? Why now do they begin to make movies out of ever growing books that have caught the attention of teenagers and young adults? There are many answers that can be given and although the answers may sound the same each carry different feelings of releasing a film that can capture the audience’s attention.
Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga (2008-2012) has gained a great deal of publicity along with her recent series The Host (2013) that many were eager to see. Even The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins which was also released in 2012 gained many views and continued to be so intriguing that the second film, Catching Fire (2013) is in the process of being released later in the year. Other movies like The City of Bones by Cassandra Clare, Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl have become the interest of teenagers recently and will not disappear for a while.
These books may have been made into movies because either filmmakers have no leads as to what to create or may follow the trend of favoritism that young adults may have these days. It may be true that they are running out of ideas but at least they are giving an effort to actually keep the country full of entertainment. It may be cliché to use the storyline of a book to create a fantastic film, but if it receives attention from others and gains them profit, then there should be no problem as to how they make their movies.
