Next year is right around the corner, and that means that ASB officer elections are here! What does that include? ASB officers have to do a lot to be elected. There are multiple positions, candidate requirements, and procedures. The week of elections includes a variety of tasks and activities that the candidates must participate. Be ready to have a fun week involving officer campaigns and lunch activities to help you decide your pick!
Election week starts on April 8th and ends April 12th. Monday is when the campaigning begins. Candidates hang up their posters, fliers, and begin their week long campaign. Tuesday includes election broadcasts. Election Broadcasts are when the running candidates give a speech over video announcements to help encourage students their way. On Wednesday, there is a lunchtime campaign Scavenger Hunt. The Scavenger Hunt is when the candidates have a list of things they either have to do or find on campus and have someone either take a picture of them doing the thing or finding that person.
The idea is to get the whole campus involved in the elections and to have the candidates more involved. Thursday includes a lunchtime debate between the running officers when they are asked various questions. The voting begins during lunch that day. There is a rally to get the nominees involved, and a picnic at lunch afterwards. The final day of voting will be Friday at lunch, and the winners announced over the PA on Friday at some point.
There are many running candidates who would like to have one of the six positions that are open. The six positions are president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, a pair of activities commissioners, and a music technician. There are many students running for each position.
Running for president are Pedro Ramirez, Shakia Collins, and Brandon Ureno. The students running for vice president are Logan Wolfley and Nathan Staats. Secretary candidates are Hayley Rovito and Elijah Silveria. Running for treasurer are Justin Giesbrecht, Bailen Loop, and Sydney Holmes. The music technician candidates are Janae Marable and Julia Ngo. The pairs running for activity commissioners are Dakota Spillers and Bree Wheeler, Elizabeth Castro and James Royel, and Morgan Loomis and Megan Wade. Look out for the ASB election lunch time activities and exciting campaigns so you can make the best decision for next year!
