This year’s Junior/Senior Prom took place on the 13th of April, aboard the Hornblower yacht, on the wonderfully majestic bay of San Francisco. As early as January of 2013, students were already discussing their prom plans, looking into all boutiques, stores, and catalogs for the latest Prom fashions, scoping for their special Prom dates, and gossiping anxiously about the beauty and excitement that is the city of San Francisco!
The weeks continued to pass and with it came the countdown the Prom for more than 500 students at Pitman. Announcing the countdown to Prom was becoming more and more common on social networking sites, all reaching its peak the week before Prom.
On the afternoon of Saturday, April 13, 2013, the Pitman campus was truly unrecognizable. Everywhere you looked, there was a sea of color, glamour, elegance, and, of course, glitter and corsages! Every single student looked stunning and revealed their taste, personality, and excitement for Prom through their dress attire, no doubt.
The drive to San Francisco was not necessarily tedious, everyone found something to do, subjects to talk about; inclusively picture taking, recording, and singing were amongst the most common activities/ forms of entertainment.
Once the buses arrived at the Pier, everyone made their way into the Hornblower, a yacht that was both simple yet classy. It had the right amount of elegance and capacity for all those attending, and its course throughout the bay highlighted all beauty and interesting things that could be found in the San Francisco bay, from a vivid sunset, to an amazing wind, to a view of Alcatraz, to marine life forms found in the ocean, to ultimately, the Golden Gate Bridge, with an LED light show!
The food selection was classical as well, much Italian-based, and a good variety that left all happy and energized to party the rest of the night. When it came to music, the DJ offered much variety, from Hispanic, to American, to Indian; best of all, the students were able to request some of their favorite music, which made dancing that much more enjoyable. Dancing was fun, an all-night thing, and students screamed, sang, danced with all the energy they possibly could have.
Overall, there was a little something at Prom for everyone and all types of personalities. Moonlight on the Bay was indeed a memorable experience for all those who attended Prom 2013, especially for all the Seniors. The investment in this Prom was worth it, and on behalf of all those who attended Prom this year, there is a Thank You to all those who made Moonlight on the Bay possible and made it amazing! This Pitman Prom 2013 was truly a night to remember.
