When you think Stephenie Meyer, vampires pop up in your head, she is the author of the Twilight saga which was a major hit. However, The Host was the first book she ever wrote (May 6, 2008), no one talked about it as much the Twilight books but now that it’s a movie that is receiving a lot of attention.
I know I’m waiting for the movie to come out, some are probably counting the days till the movie comes out; the trailer seems very interesting with romance and hopefully lots of action as the characters fight to have their own bodies. With only one more month before it comes out (March 29, 2013) it seems like people want to read or reread the book because I know I’m waiting to read it as well.
The director (Andrew Niccol) had a lot to do here, he knew how big the other movies had been from the author and I assume he wanted to make this movie as good as an even better as the twilight movies. I think the director did a splendid job with the movie because the trailer looks worthy and the music in it seems really good for the movie.
The world has been invaded by species that take over the minds of people’s hosts, but Melanie Stryder (Saoirse Ronan) is one of the last remaining humans or at least that’s what it seems; in till she meets Jared Howe (Max Irons) and they fall in love. Though she gets captured and Melanie’s mind is taken over, except that she won’t give up and remains there fighting to come back.
As Wanderer (the invading soul) starts wanting a man she never met, Melanie makes her way and throws visions of Jared (her lover); they go in search for the men they love (Jake Abel as Ian O’Shea, playing the man that the invading soul yearns for) and in the way they have to become unwilling allies.
As I have not read the book, but planning to though seeing the trailer has made me want to see the movie and read the book so I would say that it will probably be a good movie. I expect a lot from it because the trailer shows the movie with a lot of action and the love is everywhere.
I think since were used to vampires from the author this would be interesting to watch become a movie; wondering how it would be when the protagonist becomes invaded with a different “soul” and how her love for Jared helps her break through. That really seems interesting and I’m waiting impatiently to watch it.
