This passed election it was not just about who became president, but as there was the propositions that many were involved in because some of the propositions were just unbelievable. Proposition 37 was a very interesting one; though it did not pass there was some good to it. Some people would like to know what their eating, but if you really think about it, no one really bothers with these things. Proposition 37 involved the mandatory labeling of genetically engineered food initiative.
If this proposition had been passed then raw or processed food would have to be label if the food was offered for sale to the consumer if it had come from a plant or animal if the product had been changed in specific ways. By accepting this position it would be prohibited to label or advertise food as “natural”.
Things to why people think it should have passed, they say people should know what their eating and that is very true but most do not even read the labels if you consider that it would just be a waste of money. Though it is good to be involved and what if you are allegoric to something or health risks, this will inform you if the food has something you cannot eat, physicians and scientists recommended this very much for this fact: it might help one’s health.
Does anyone even know the true behind Prop 37? Some may and some may not, so here is some of what is true; it is just a simple label, a label that would have to be put forward in 61 other countries saying how the food has been genetically engineered and that would simply cost too much money. This prop also enables people to make an informal choice about whether the food is right for the family or not. The people that support this prop are very important people some may say, maybe some are wondering if we should have actually listen to them. Some many of the consumers of course supported this prop and as well as farmers and who better then to trust then them since they are the ones that actually produce the food at the beginning and they can inform us about certain things, so why not trust them; even nurses and doctors and a broad coalition supported this.
So much money was put for this so it would not win and at the end their money was worth it since at the end Prop 37 was defeated. Big companies poured up to $41.3 million to stop this Prop into actually being a law. There to was the money used in support for the Prop which was a total of $7.3 million from individual donors and small organic food companies.
