Ever find yourself craving for a quest of revenge that will take you through a sprawling industrial city infested by rats, plagued by disease, littered with rotten bodies, and ran by corrupt officials? Do you wish to do so as a highly skilled assassin who has a arsenal of extremely lethal and stealthy weapons and the ability to manipulate time, space, and other living beings. If your answer is yes, as it should be, then it is highly recommended that you acquire a copy of Dishonored.
Dishonored is a stealth based first person melee/shooter that puts players into a world of many opportunities with many different outcomes. By that I mean the player will have the ability to chose how they wish to go about completing their primary objective, whether its by quietly sneaking by guards with no peripheral vision, hacking and shooting your way through and army of troops, or slicing the throat of any bystander dumb enough to get in your way, its always up to the player and every decision has an outcome, good or bad, The presence of options is really the key element of this entire game and what makes it different from others. The game also features large expansive quest areas that have multiple optional quests within them that a player may accept as they freely explore the detailed environments.
The game takes place in the fantasy city of Dunwall, a huge plagued city that in the process of being industrialized. Your character, Corvo Attano, was once the trusted bodyguard of the empress that resided in Dunwall until he was framed for her murder. After nearly escaping execution by traversing through the rat infested sewers of the city, the player will find their way to an old and abandoned city district that a group of resistance leaders use as their base of operations. From here the player will begin their quest of revenge against those who had them but only after an encounter with a supernatural being of a higher power that grants you the ability to manipulate time and space.
The graphics in Dishonored are not top of the line though they are still good. The characters that the player will encounter in game often have a sort of cartoonish proportioning to their body that is noticeably visible. The buildings are on the other hand, are highly detailed and you can see the work that designers put into the environment not only in texture but also in player accessible areas that seamlessly blend with a buildings industrial urban style. There is also a good amount of detailed impaling and decapitation going on, incase anybody was worried that there would not be any gore making an appearance in the game.
Dishonored is a great game that runs well, has decent graphics, and easy to use controls. It also has a well developed story line that players will learn more and more about it as they continue to play the game. I rate it at a 8.5 out of 10 for its easy to use controls, simple to follow story line, and also its replay value.
