To all Skyrim fans, have you ever wondered what to do with all that gold you plundered fro those countless dungeons and where to put all of the awesome weapons you have fought and died for? If so, “Skyrim: Hearthfire DLC” might be your next course of action. With the purchase of the “Hearthfire DLC,” players will now be able to buy property for a moderate price and start designing and building their medieval dream house. Players will also be able to expand their family, if they already have one, or start a family by travelling to the orphanage and adopting a child.
When the player first starts to build their home they must have first purchased land from one of the many in-game stewards. This process is relatively easy as a courier finds you and delivers a message regarding property for sale shortly after the purchase and download of the DLC. After purchasing your land for five thousand gold coins you must travel to your property and begin construction of your house. The player now has multiple options while designing their house. It can be as small and unfurnished as a shack or as large and well equipped as a military compound, it’s all up to the player’s choice. A player may also choose what type of rooms they want to build all according to their individual taste and family situation. The best time for a player to start building their house would be after the completion of the main quest-lines as in “Dawnguard DLC.” Money is essential when building your house’ it does not matter if you had planned on going out and gathering resources either because most of the essential building materials can only be bought. With that stated, it will take all of the money accumulated during the completion of the main quest-lines to build your house.
The down side of “Hearthfire” in the initial confusion and the amount of time that needs to be spent on the game in order to get full use out of it. The reason for confusion might be that a player may have not put a lot of time into a character so then that character may not have met the prerequisites required to purchase land or they may not have enough gold. Either way, the DLC is geared more towards players with experienced and wealthy characters.
A new feature that comes with the “Hearthfire DLC” is the option to adopt a child. This is best done after the completion of your house or the purchase of another because a home and child’s bedroom set are required for adoption.
In the end, its a fairly interesting addition to Skyrim especially if you are into the role playing side of and the best part is its only five dollars, or 400 Microsoft points.
