“Is you okay? Is you good? Cuz I wanted to know!” Any Youtube expert would immediately recognize the infamous introduction of GloZell Green’s videos. Born in Orlando, Florida, GloZell Green is an American comedian known throughout Youtube for her vloging and her series of video challenges.
GloZell Green, generally known by her username, glozell1, started posting Youtube videos about her everyday life in January 2008. However it wasn’t until she posted her Cinammon Challenge video in January earlier this year that she truly rose to fame. Wittingly using antics that make her seem oblivious to what she’s actually doing; GloZell mastered the art of making people laugh.
Since her rise to fame as a comedian and a vlogger, her daily routine consists of performing at parties, walking down red carpets, and attending fancy A-list celebrity get togethers.
Her videos are not all funny; she also posts about topics such as suicide and bullying. She also uploads a segment known as “Ask GloZell” in which fans can send questions about school, what to do in life, and many other topics that usually circulate a teenager’s brain. She adds comic relief as well as serious advice in these videos. In one of her videos titled, “Facebook and Parents,” she claims that she likes to make people laugh when they are sad. This is exactly what she accomplishes.
As of August, 2012, GloZell Green has had over 225 million views on her videos. Since 2008, the comedian has uploaded over a total of 1000 videos and has collected a cult-like following on Youtube, Twitter, Facebook, and the new social networking site, Keek. She has over 600,000 subscribers on Youtube and 200,000 followers on Twitter alone. Although she always dreamt of fame as a child, GloZell has admitted that her sudden rise to fame was accidental.
Because of her comedic status, GloZell has also become an internet hit outside of Youtube, most notable in the circulation of her memes. Known for her signature green Crocs and hat, GloZell has made a name for herself with signature introductions and closings in her videos.
Although she refers to herself as “accidental”, it’s no mistake that GloZell Green is a rising star not only throughout the Youtube community, but also the world.
