On June 30, 2012, 120 band members and parents will set out to Washington DC to represent Central California in the annual Independence Day Parade. Throughout the year, everyone has been working extremely hard to raise the $113,000 it will take to get the band members and their instruments to the Capital. There have numerous fundraisers and donations towards the cause. The band has participated in Cool Hand Luke’s fundraisers, Vito’s, car washes, tri-tip dinners, Zoe’s Coffee fundraisers, and many, many more. There have also been many donations made by generous individuals and supporters of the Pitman Marching Pride. Despite all of the support, the band is still short. Because of this, each student going must pay an extra $200, and the chaperones must pay an extra $200. While there are still last minute attempts to raise the money, the price will be raised in order to go on this adventure. Even through all of this, the Pitman Marching Pride has kept their spirits high and are eager to go and represent Central California. Just as Joshua Segales predicted, “It’s going to be tough, but everyone will do their best and are excited to be given this honor.” Keep supporting the Pitman Marching Pride!
