The NBA season is coming to an end with only a few games left before the playoffs start. It was a great season with many great teams. Even though the many back-to-back games have exhausted the players, they still played their hardest and put on a great show for basketball fans everywhere. I personally think this is one of the greatest seasons in NBA history due to the fantastic shows put on by every strong team, or miracles such as Jeremy Lin’s debut performance and subsequent rise to glory in the matter of a few games.
There are many teams with an overall record within a few games of each other competing for the top. As of right now the Chicago Bulls are in first place in the eastern conference with a record of 47-15 with the Miami Heat following close by with a record of 44-17. In the western conference the San Antonio Spurs hold the first place position with the record of 45-16 and the Oklahoma Thunder following with the record of 45-17.
Another factor in the season’s exciting improbability is the rash of injuries that have been happening of late. Rajon Rondo, the point guard for the Celtics, injured his back by taking a hard fall on it against the Knicks and hasn’t played for two games since then. Also, the shooting guard for the Celtics, Ray Allen, injured his ankle and has been out for seven straight games since then. The Bulls’ all-star player, Derrick Rose, injured his foot and has been out since then. Kobe Bryant from the Lakers had also been out for seven straight due to a shin injury but may be coming back for their next game. Also, Dwayne Wade, from the Heat, has been sitting out for a while, but Lebron James has made up for the loss.
The Miami Heat and the Chicago Bulls, two very strong teams, battled it out Thursday, April 19. The Chicago Bulls have beaten the Heat in the past, but this time the Heat prevailed. Dwayne Wade did play this game, despite having been out for a while due to injiury, and scored 18 points. Lebron James also played well, scoring 27 points with 11 rebounds.
James is reported to have said after the game: “This is what the postseason is all about. Both teams struggling to score offensively, and defensively, two very good defensive teams. It’s a possession game. That’s what happens in the postseason. The game slows down. Not many fast-break points. You’ve got to work for every attempt, work for every shot.”

I personally can’t wait for the playoffs and many of my friends can’t wait for it either. This wait will soon be over and the playoffs should be starting within a couple of weeks.
