The Pitman track team took a trip to Golden Valley High School for a chance of taking the win against the Buhach Colony and Golden Valley track teams. All the athletes were ready and pumped up to show their skills to parents, coaches and fellow athletes.
This meet was very successful, with a total of thirteen people moving up in the rankings of Pitman records, while most of them were moved to the top ten. Pitman also achieved twenty-one first place spots.
Pitman boys’ Varsity led Golden Valley by forty points and tied with Buhach at sixty- eight points. Some notable athletes for this week’s performance include Sharif Collins and Anthony Hernandez. Sharif was Pitman top boys’ point scorer and Anthony was the double winner for boys 1600/800.
Girls’ Varsity grabbed a huge win against Golden Valley where it was ninety-seven to thirty-nine. The girls also showed their talents against Buhach with an eighty-three to fifty-three point win. With a great effort from Jasmine Roberson, who had a twenty-point day, Pitman was able to pull off an overall win against both high schools.
The Frosh-Soph team did especially well, scoring ninety-five to thirty-nine against Golden Valley and ninety-nine to thirty-six against Buhach. A great effort from freshman Lindsay Phillips and Jamie Stroup helped them to achieve a glorious spot on the Pitman Record List.
If the track team keeps up its streak of wins, then Pitman may be gearing up to win big at the CCC Championships.
