In the last ten years, the Oakland Raiders and their fans have had their doubts about the team. The Raiders haven’t made it to playoffs since 2002. The many failures of Raiders have caused NFL fans to blame the team—coaches, players, and owner alike.
After another failed season, the Raiders did not make it to the playoffs again. The Raider nation had suffered a big loss this year with the passing of owner Al Davis, who passed away on October 9, 2011.Daviswas undoubtedly a big part of the team and contributed 16 years of division victories and three Super Bowl wins. Once he died, everyone wondered who would fulfill the legacy ofDavis. Soon after, it was confirmed that the team would be taken over byDavis’s son Mark who didn’t have very much knowledge of the game. So once the team’s tying record for first place didn’t take them to playoffs, they decided to search for a general manger to lead the team into the right direction.
Over time, the Raiders found a general manger named Reggie McKenzie whose previous contract with the Packers was ending this year. Among the reasons why the Raiders chose McKenzie was because he has lots of skills and knowledge with both the coaches and the players. They also picked him up because he had actual playing experience with the Oakland Raiders in his early NFL career. On his first day as general manager, McKenzie fired head coach Hue Jackson because he thought it was the best for the team. The question now remains who will act as the team’s new head coach.
