Oklahoma State pulled off a big bowl win in overtime at the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl on Monday, January 2. The Stanford Cardinals and the Oklahoma State Cowboys both received an invite to the bowl game. As a viewer, I thought the game was so exciting; I was jumping off the couch in front of the television.
Andrew Luck, the Stanford quarterback, had a great game in the air. Luck threw a 53-yard pass toMontgomery, which put the Cardinals ahead of Oklahoma State. In the second quarter, the Cardinals scored again, on the ground this time. Up 14-0, the Cowboys responded by throwing a 43-yard pass to get on the board. When both teams went into halftime, the score was close 21-21.
After a short talk with the coach, Luck threw another pass to put the Cardinals, putting them in the lead 28-21. The Cowboys were not going to let the game out of reach and scored a field goal. With the clock running down to the last few seconds, Stanford was set up for the field goal. The kicker slightly missed by kicking it to the left.
In overtime, Stanford had a chance to win again. But with another missed field goal, it appeared that the Cowboys were going to be victorious. The Cowboys kicker, Sharp, nailed a 22-yard field goal to win the game.
At the game’s conclusion, Andrew Luck had over 374 passing yards, while B. Weeden had 399 passing yards.
