Do you ever feel overwhelmed? Like you have too much to accomplish and not enough time? I know how you feel. Time management and organization are not easy, but they are not impossible either. With a few easy tips and an understanding of priorities, things will get done more quickly, more efficiently, and more effectively.
For those of you feeling anxious about due dates and school work, the best thing to do is make a list. This helps to sort out priorities and chances are, once everything is written out on paper, it will seem like a lot less to do than it does in your head.
Once all the assignments and projects are written out, write the due dates next to them. Figure out which will take the longest and which you have the most time for.
Get to work. Don’t waste time by watching TV, listening to music, or surfing the web. It is so easy to let these everyday distractions get the best of you but stay strong, because when you are sitting in your room the night before it’s due, realizing that even if you start now you won’t finish, you are going to wish you’d paid attention to the list.
It’s never a good feeling when you’re sitting in class praying the teacher doesn’t call on you to answer a question you didn’t do. It’s happened to all of us, but only you can prevent it from happening again.
Then there are the people who have too many places to be at one time. These are the people who don’t even have time to home after school whether it is for sports, dance, or theatre.
There is no easy solution for situations like this. The best thing to do is figure out what is most important to you. If your friends want to go to the movies after school, but you have dance rehearsal, figure out which is most important. If you skip dance, will you be lost at the next rehearsal? Will you be excluded from one of the songs? Probably. If you skip the movies will your friends hate you? Probably not.
Another thing to consider is school work. If you have too many extra curricular activities, and you’re falling behind on school work, get rid of some of those activities. Again, figure what’s important and just have one or two, and don’t get to the point where you don’t even have time to sleep.
Time management is hard, but if you use these few easy tips, relax, and focus, it should not be a problem.
