This past Saturday, Pitman’s FBLA participated in “Bowling for Babies.” This charity event is a part of March of Dimes. March of Dimes is a nonprofit organization for baby health and pregnancy. With Chapters nationwide, March of Dimes works to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, infant mortality, and premature birth. Bowling for Babies was a smart, fun way to raise money for this charitable event. There were about thirteen people who came on the trip. In total, all sponsored participants sponsors raised amazingly, four-hundred dollars.
Bowling for Babies was a lot of fun. We played two games and everyone seemed to enjoy the lively atmosphere. Participants were divided into either two or three other people and it was a good opportunity to really connect and interact with other people. It was funny to watch as others laughed at themselves when they would strike a gutter ball, but it was also nice to cheer for those who made an “actual” strike. A little friendly competition made if fun for everyone!
Bowling for Babies was not just an excuse to go bowl with some friends. It was reassuring to know we were bowling for something helpful that a lot of people will be very thankful for. A lot of times people just go to these events for fun, but never stop to think about who were helping. It could be a friend, a neighbor, or even someone we just see around town. More people should get involved in these sorts of activities. It may not affect them in any way, but it sure does affect the people who are impacted most.
