Studying should be a part every person’s life, whether it is studying formulas, words, or patterns. Everyone has to study, but the way they get the information embedded into their memory is an individual act. Some people enjoy listening to music others talk to themselves and some even exercise while studying. Whatever it is that you do to study is obviously working, just look and all the colleges driven by the students who put the time and effort into their school work. They could not have done that without their studying skills.
The usual way a “normal” student studies is with the three R’s, reading, review, and rewrite. Reading the information helps your brain absorb the information, and then you can review by making flashcards and testing yourself until you are confident with the information. Finally you can finish the study method by rewriting the information from your memory.
Another yet very strange but effective way so embed the information in your head according to another high school student is to study while blasting Japanese anime music. She swears it opens the mind to the information. She is also a straight A student so maybe everyone should go out and buy their own CD.
Michaela, a junior at Atwater High School plays jeopardy with herself. She uses flashcards and acts out the asking questions and even puts in the daily doubles. Even though it is a unique way to study she is still using the three R’s.
Carrots, everyone knows of them, but only some people use them to enhance their study skills. My friend Alex eats carrots 10 minutes before studying, studies for 30 minutes stops eats at least two carrots then continues where he left off.
Studying is a part of every students life in search of academic success. Every student enjoys seeing those bright and shiny A’s on their papers but those are not possible if you are not willing to put the time and effort into your studies. Choosing the book over the video game is always a better use of your time. At this moment in time you might not enjoy your teachers and parents nagging you about your grades but in the long run it helps you. Studying is key for everyone, it doesn’t matter how the information reaches your brain just as long as it does. Always remember never to fall asleep on top of your textbook because then all the information in your head will fall into the book. Fall asleep with the book on top of your head that way all the information from the book will fall into your head.
