This NFL season has been interesting so far and I cannot wait for the playoffs to start. There are so many teams eligible for the playoffs in the same division that the competition is too close to call. What it really comes down to is whoever plays the strongest and the best—this season is going to be intense.
For instance, the Kansas City Chiefs were 0-3 starting the season, but are now tied for first in the West after the disappointing loss for the San Diego Chargers this week. The Chiefs thought they were going to lose when the Chargers wasted time kicking the game-winning field goal. Philip Rivers called for the snap, instead of the ball going into his hands; it bounced around on the field ending up in the hands of a Chiefs linebacker. Due to this, the game went into overtime leading to the victory after Ryan Succop knocked through a 30 yard field goal which ended the game at 23-20. Kansas City became the first team in NFL history to lose the first three games and still have some share of a division lead. Additionally, they are also the first team since 2000 to win four games in a row after losing their first three. Many Chargers fans are disappointed in Philip Rivers and say that he is not performing his best and his mid-game “choke” cost the Chiefs a victory.
Another game that was equally crazy includes the Broncos vs. Lions. The Lions came out with the victory ending the game 45-10. The Lions defense sacked Tim Tebow, the Broncos quarterback, seven times and turned his two turnovers into touchdowns. Matthew Stafford, the Lions quarterback, showed no symptoms of his sprained ankle a week earlier by throwing three touchdowns in this game. The Lions appeared to tease the Broncos by allowing only one field goal in the first quarter and one touchdown in the fourth. Generally, most Broncos fans believe that Tebow doesn’t deserve to start, the same goes for Chargers fans and Philip Rivers
Likewise, the 49ers vs. Browns game was a good game to watch—especially for 49ers fans
The 49ers beat the Browns 20-10. This was a great game for Frank Gore, the running back of the 49ers, who moved in second place on the 49ers career rushing list. Gore ran for 125 plus yards and a touchdown in a fourth straight game this season. Alex Smith completed 15 of 24 passes for 177 yards, adding a beneficial playing advantage for San Francisco. However, this somewhat ideal advantage creates an unfavorable lack of starting time for fellow Pitman High graduate, Colin Kaepernick.
Still, fans are determined that the 49ers are going to try hard to make the playoffs—a goal that hasn’t been reached in almost a decade. This particular win over the Browns makes this the 49ers fifth victory in a row, a needed stepping stone in their path to the playoffs. Their record stands 6-1
