Fall has proven to be a very successful season for PHS athletics. Many teams have advanced past the regular season into sub-section and sections playoffs.
As previously mentioned by the Roaring Times, freshmen, sophomore, and varsity volleyball all won the CCC titles. The varsity team advanced into quarter finals of sections before being defeated by one of the top programs in the section, St. Mary’s ofStockton.
As will be noted in additional articles by the Roaring Times, the JV Football team ended their season as the first 10-0 JV football team at Pitman HS. The varsity team currently has a school record 10-1 record while heading into the quarter-finals of sections against last year’s section champions, Pleasant Grove of Elk Grove.
Both boys and girls JV Cross Country teams were also CCC Champions this year. Girls JV cross country placed 7th out of 16 teams at sub-sections with our top girl, Jamie Stroup, placing 22nd out of 138 runners. Our cross country sophomore boys placed 6th out of 19 teams during sub-sections with out top boy, Isaac Gonzales, placing 6th out of 168 runners. During sections Jamie Stroup placed 20th and Isaac Gonzales placed 5th out of 50 runners. Both varsity cross country teams competed at subsections as well.
The girl’s tennis team also performed well with the doubles team of Britney Leonand Preet Hayer, winning the CCC doubles tournament and advancing to section play. The team itself also advanced into section play with a 7-3 league record and played in the 2nd round of section play..
Boy’s water polo also had a great season winning in sub-sections 16-2 against Johansen but ultimately losing in quarter finals 18-6 to Davis High school of Yolo County.
The girl’s golf team again showed continuing improvement and success advancing into sub-sections.
