Although summer just came to a close, fall has merely begun. It is during this time of year especially that fashion reveals a new face; it reinvents itself bringing a new definition to the phrase ‘In Style’. But this season, designers truly amazed us by putting a modern twist on deep-rooted classics.
The Working Girl Style: Who says you can’t dress like you just came from the runway? Well, now it’s gotten easier than ever, because with these pieces you can dress fashionably and comfortably without having to sacrifice anything.
Classic 70’s: There are two basic aspects of 70’s fashion; 70’s glam and 70’s bohemian. Both will be huge this year! Everywhere you turn there will be 70’s essence. Whether it’s in the bell bottom pants, the plaid, the ponchos, it’s everywhere. Reinventing the 70’s came up as the biggest trend by showing details of itself in every other trend. This is one movement you’re not going to be able to avoid
A Touch of Tuxedo Dressing Here and There: I believe that this trend is the first of its kind to be pioneered. Mostly because I’ve never seen such masculine qualities work in women’s clothing. If in the next couple of months you find yourself drawn to explore this side of fashion and are afraid… don’t worry this is very much in style.
Bright Pants: Normally, fall isn’t exactly the time for super-bright colors, but it is the time for experimenting. I guess they found the loophole…
Leather Bottoms: Last spring leather was a huge success finding its way into millions of women’s closets. And this fall, leather jackets continue to be a key staple everyone should own. But being the daring creatures we are, this season we wanted so see how people would take on leather on the bottom rather than on the top. We did pretty good.
Fashionable Ponchos/Capes: When I first heard this was even a trend I have to admit I laughed a little. But after several hours of looking through designer look-books, I realized they weren’t wrong. I have a poncho, but I never wear it because its hideous, it looks like a tribal print Snuggie, but if mine were as fashionable as these… I wouldn’t even think twice before wearing it in public.
Long Coats: Also referred as “Duster Coasts,” this fresh new trend that hasn’t been seen since the early 1990’s is sure to sweep you away.
Striking Stripes: Personally, this is my favorite trend, for various reasons. The main one being that there’s so much variety to choose from. From shoes, to sweaters, coats, skirts, jewelry… you name stripes can most likely be found on it. The other great thing about stripes is they can be worn in a very bold way, like a striped color block dress or in a more settle approach by wearing a striped sweater.
Just a Tad of Lace: With the booming popularity lace has had the last two years it doesn’t seem like it wants to die down! But this fall it’s decided to go a little on the down-low.
Old-School Plaid: Normally, when you think of plaid you think of that print on a flannel shirt at Hollister or Abercrombie. On the contrary, the ‘original plaid’ has been long forgotten and designers have all the intent of bringing it back.
