The 2011 NFL season has started and it has been great so far. There are three teams that are currently undefeated and many other teams that have good records. This season was supposed to be a little different due to the lockout, but it apparently didn’t affect the Lions, Bills, or Packers which are the three teams going into week 4 undefeated. No one expected these three teams to be undefeated. The start off of this season was different then many people expected.
Going into week three with the Bills (2-0) versus the Patriots (2-0) most people thought the Bills were going to lose since the Patriots are one of the best rated teams this season. They thought the Patriots were going to get the easy win but they got a big surprise. The Bills went into halftime not playing to well and were facing a 21 point deficit. This was disappointing for the players and the fans who thought it was going to be difficult for the Bills to come back and win, but the Patriots and their fans began celebrating too soon. The Bills did the unthinkable and came back from the 21 point deficit and won the game by 3 points with the final score ending up at 34-31 Bills. The Bills haven’t beaten the Patriots since 2003 with 15 attempts in between. It was either the Bills amazing defense or it just wasn’t Tom Brady’s day because he threw 4 picks that game which is the same as he threw all of last season. This was a disappointing game for the Patriots but one amazing game for the Bills which finally defeated the Patriots and are going undefeated so far.
This wasn’t the only team that was in this situation because the Lions were playing the Vikings and the Lions went into halftime also facing a disappointing deficit of 20 points. Just like the Bills, the Lions were getting ready to leave Minnesota with a loss. Just like the Patriots, the Vikings began to celebrate too soon, but they were not happy of what happened next because the Lions came out from the locker room prepared and determined to win. The Lions offense came out of the locker room on top of its game and they were catching passes and gaining major important yards. Everyone was surprised to see the Lions coming back and making the lead shorter and shorter. Then to take the lead the Lions kicked a 32-yard field goal to finish off the Vikings. The Lions beat the Vikings which seemed impossible at first but wasn’t and was the reality. The Lions ended up winning the game 26-23. This is the first time the Lions have been 3-0 since 1980. This is also the first time the Lions have won in the Metrodome (Vikings stadium) since 1997. This was a proud day for the Lions and there fans, but a sad day for the Vikings who are now 0-3.
This is a weird season start off but this is how it began and no one can predict what will happen in the future because many people thought wrong in these two games. From these last 3 weeks anything seems possible so I can’t wait to see what is going to happen in the rest of this season.
