Pitman girl’s soccer has a great start in the CCC league. Varsity’s head coach is Oscar Mercado, with assistants Cesar Mercado and Tricia Larsen. The coach for JV is Chris Castro.
On February 25-26, Pitman hosted the 8th annual Extreme Spring Tournament, where both Varsity and JV took first place. Varsity beat Placer, Modesto, Central Valley, and a 2-0 win in over-time against East Union launched them to first place. They continued with a 4-0 win on March 2, against a non-conference team Bear Creek.
March 4-5, they were headed to Pleasanton for their second tournament, winning their first two games against Foothill (2-0) and Valley (6-0). Pride’s first league game was March 8 against Golden Valley and they dominated with a 6-0 win. On March 10, they played another league game with Buhach Colony and took over with a score of 2-0.
Annabell Perez (21) scored a total of seven goals so far this season. Marisa Marable (4) and Hannah Verschlden (10) have scored six each. Pitman’s Varsity team has a 9-3 record, and with the way they have been playing, could be headed to first in CCC’s this year. Their next home game is Tuesday, March 15 against the conference team Atwater.
